What We Do After Installing Ubuntu??

many users are newbie of ubuntu, or after migrating from Windows operating system is confuse, and the questions they ask is "What should I do after installing ubuntu linux?" in fact after we install it ubuntu is ready for use, but it still use the packages when ubuntu firts released and we must upgrade to newest ubuntu applications. there are some steps that we must do.

note : In this workshop you must connected with internet


Step 1. Open System -> Administration -> Software sources. Ubuntu need your password, fill it with your password when installing ubuntu






Step 2. In tab Ubuntu Software, Check all available repositories, choose the server nearest to you, but I prefer to use the main server.



Step 3. In tab Third-Party Software, you can add repositories from all supporting community of ubuntu, just click add button and fill it like this example

deb http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/debian intrepid non-free






Step 4. In tab Updates, check all ubuntu update



Step 5. Click Close and Reload, now ubuntu will download all ubuntu source list from main server and looking for update for ubuntu software, just wait a few minutes.





Step 6. After all list is downloaded, you can see all update available, click install update. wait a minute depending on the speed internet connection.
